Air India Express is India’s primary low cost carrier which has maximum flights to both national and international destinations. This subsidiary of Air India was established in May 2004and initiated operations on 29^th April2005 It has its main centre at Cochin International Airport in Kochi in the state of Kerala. The airline belongs to Air India Charters Limited and operated its first flight from Thiruvanthapuram to Abu Dhabi.

The entire fleet of Air India Express consists of the one of the most modern aircrafts. Air India Express offers its international and domestic services with a total fleet of nearly 24 Boeing 737 – 800 aircraft. All the aircrafts of Air India Express have a single class (Economy) of travel with a capacity around 180 seats. All aircrafts of the airline display an exclusive tail design that exhibits a unique facet of Indian culture, tradition and history, etc. It has code-share accords with AirFrance, British Airways, Qatar airways, Singapore Airlines, Thai Airways, and Air India.

Air India Express -Baggage Allowance

Air India Express permits some amount of baggage free of charge depending upon the destination. However, passengers with infants are allowed to check-in 10 kgs of luggage free of charge.  The bags with a weight up to 7 kgs55x40x20 cm can be taken inside the cabin.Air India Express permits every traveler to have two bags around 20 kg each for the travelers. On the whole the standard size of each case should not exceed 160cm -63 inches.

Currently Air India Express offers its scheduled services to nearly 31 destinations including international as well as domestic destinations. Air India Express operates its international services mainly to the major cities of the Middle East and South East Asia namely Bangladesh All the international destinations fall within a distance of around 4 hours from different cities of India such as Delhi to Abu Dhabi Doha, Muscat Bahrain, Mumbai to Dhaka, Chennai to Colombo Kolkata to Bangkok and Hyderabad to Kuala Lumpur, Chennai to Singapore. Most of the flights are quick-turn-around flights with a ground time of around one hour at the international destinations. Air India Express aims to provide easy connectivity in the short-range routes at the economic prices with in-flight services, light meal, snacks and entertainment facility.
